A Message from Senator Sanderson

A Message from Senator Sanderson

We are living in uncertain times: rampant inflation, struggling businesses, inadequate workforce, high crime rates among illegal immigrants pouring into our state and nation, and government intrusion in our basic rights as American citizens. It is IMPERATIVE Republicans maintain a supermajority in both the NC House and Senate so anyone who tries to trample on the state constitution and decimate the state’s economy for political gain can be stopped in their tracks. In 2024, we MUST elect conservatives who care deeply about the legacy we will leave our children and grandchildren. I must return to Raleigh to be your voice for how government should be run, “BY the people, and FOR the people…”. God granted us these freedoms, and we need to fight to keep them!

The 2020 Census showed significant population growth in certain areas of North Carolina and by law required a redistricting process. Some legislative districts changed dramatically. My area of coverage has shifted several times, and I am once again running for Senate District 2 which covers eight counties: Carteret, Chowan, Halifax, Hyde, Martin, Pamlico, Warren and Washington. I am excited about this new area and am ready to serve the good citizens of Senate District 2, bringing over 14 years of experience serving Eastern NC in the NC Legislature.

When I was first elected in 2010, I made promises to my constituents to help get North Carolina back on track, and I have kept those promises.  I am the more qualified candidate.

  • I have 14 total years of experience in the legislature, 12 in the NC Senate and 2 in the NC House.
  • Decision-making power in the Senate comes from seniority. Right now, I am the 6th longest-seated senator in NC. I do not take this strong influence lightly and am humbled to be in a position to do good things for the people of Eastern North Carolina.
  • I am in a key leadership position on four committees in the Senate that greatly impact Eastern NC.  Co-chairing a committee means it is up to me to determine which legislation is actually heard in my committees, the key places where decisions are made.
  • I sit on the following committees in the Senate:  1. Co-Chair of Agriculture, Environment and Energy (farming, commercial fishing, energy, tourism, waterways),  2. Co-Chair of Appropriations on Agriculture, Natural and Economic Resources (see above), 3. Appropriations on Justice and Public Safety, 4. Committee on Education/Higher Education, 5. Judiciary (law enforcement, courts, prison system, emergency management), 6. Co-Chair of Environmental Review Commission (rules and regulatory reform on environmental issues) 7. Redistricting and Elections, 8. Rules and Operations of the Senate, 9. Select Committee on Nominations, 10. Co-Chair of Agriculture and Forestry Awareness Study Commission.

Linda and I are praying for the citizens of our great state, and we are working hard to represent you in the NC Senate. Your financial investment in my campaign will help us retain a supermajority in the Senate to continue the good work we've done in North Carolina over the past decade. The maximum amount one can give is $5,600; all amounts are important and appreciated.   May God bless your generosity to invest in those who will fight BOLDLY for your freedoms.
